Our Languages Summit Wrap-Up

The 2025 Our Languages Summit was a collaborative event that brought together cultural leaders, language learners, and community members in a shared commitment to the revitalization of our Native languages. The summit was more than an educational forum; it served as a celebration of cultural strength and community connection.

Throughout the event, participants engaged in meaningful conversations, shared laughter, and built relationships that underscore the principle that language revitalization flourishes when it is carried out collectively. The summit highlighted the importance of sustaining and growing the use of Lingít, X̱aad Kíl, and Sm’algyax, affirming their central role in cultural identity and heritage.

Event partners are pleased to announce their commitment to ensuring that Our Languages Summit will continue in future years, ensuring an enduring platform for collaboration, celebration, and the advancement of Alaska Native language revitalization efforts.

This year’s summit was made possible through the generous partnership of co-sponsors: Association of Alaska School Boards, Sealaska Corporation, Sealaska Heritage Institute, and Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska. Their support reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Indigenous languages for generations to come.
