Summary
Ḵoo At Latóowux̱ Gux̱satée Haa Yátx’i – “our grandchildren will become teachers” grant initiative is designed to promote the college and career readiness of American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) youth. This grant consists of three woven strands or outcomes representing cultural values, student opportunity, and an investment in heritage language sustainability.

This grant’s overall goal is to build the Indigenous frameworks and pedagogies within our education systems for AN/AI youth to best support their identities, create pathway to secondary and post-secondary opportunities, and create stewards of heritage languages. This project will be implemented through community partnerships with Juneau School District, Educators Rising Alaska, University of Alaska Southeast and Alaska Native elders, mentors, parents, and youth.
