Yéil ḵa Tʼá | Animated book and Lingít language lesson | Lingít Shkalneegí Haa Yátx’i Kagéiyi Yís Book Series
“Yéil ḵa Tʼá” is a traditional Lingít story about Trickster Raven, who enlists the help of his grandchildren, the birds of Southeast Alaska, into helping move and cook a giant salmon. Raven doesn’t want to share the salmon, so he tricks the other birds into doing all the work while he keeps the delicious fish all for himself! Narrated by K’ashGé Daphne Wright and illustrated by G̲at X̲wéech Nick Alan Foote and Jaax̱snée Kelsey Mata Foote, “Yéil ḵa Tʼá” is part of the Lingít Shkalneegí Haa Yátx’i Kagéiyi Yís book series, a collaboration between Tlingit & Haida, Goldbelt Heritage Foundation, and Cedar Group.
