They had to learn how to live in harmony with the earth and all that was created. In order to accomplish this they had to develop an educations system that would help them succeed and they did. Anthropologists estimate that Tlingit people have lived in Southeast Alaska for 10,000 years or more. Their educational system was built on four primary pillars/corner posts based on the foundation of respect: •Lingít áwé wa.x’edéi kakgees.áax. You are a human being. You are to listen.
