Goldbelt Heritage Foundation has recently launched a new Youth Wellness Advisory Board (YWAB) and is currently seeking youth in grades 9-12 to participate. As board members, youth will work closely with GHF team members to provide feedback on the creation of an online manual for suicide prevention in our community as well as the creation of a newly developed self-care curriculum. They will help to plan and prepare for a kéex’ for GHF’s Healing Yaakw, scheduled for October 10th, 2025. The YAWB will meet and participate in various cultural activities at least twice a month.
- YWAB members will serve a one-year term.
- YWAB members will each receive a monthly stipend of $150. Please note that payment will be contingent upon full participation which includes meeting attendance, returning feedback forms, and participation in cultural opportunities.
- YWAB will hold a minimum of two meetings per month.
- YWAB members will provide input on a variety of wellness programs including Identity & Wellness Curriculum and GHF’s Strategic Action Plan for Youth Wellness.
- YWAB members will also participate in special events as scheduled
To serve on the YWAB, participants must be Alaska Native or American Indian, live in Juneau, and be enrolled in the Juneau School District or be homeschooled.
