GHF to Host Beginning Carving Workshop

Registration is now open for Beginning Carving with Abel Ryan.  Over six hands-on sessions, participants will learn how to carve a traditional-style feast bowl.  While this class is a follow-up to GHF’s previous Beginning Formline class, all interested participants are encouraged to register.  No prior carving experience is required.  The workshop will be held on November 9, 11, 13, 16, 17, and 20, 2024, in Juneau, Alaska.

The materials fee for the workshop is $50.  While registration is open to all, priority will be given to shareholders of Goldbelt, Inc. Registration is now open on the GHF Portal.

Instructor Abel Ryan is a Tsimshian artist and teacher. He is a member of the Laxiboo clan of Metlakatla. Abel works in several art forms including wood carving, metal engraving, painting, and drum making. He studied under master carver Jack Hudson and now resides in Juneau.
